In view of the bandh, a huge force of security personnel was deployed at Singhu border between Haryana and Delhi.
The police said their focus will be between 10.00 am and 3.00 pm when farmers are proposing Chakka Jam (traffic blockade).

WhatsApp rolls out a new feature to notify users about in-app updates
Washington [US]: Instant messaging application WhatsApp has rolled out a new handy feature that will allow WhatsApp to make in-app announcements around new updates.
According to Mashable, as reported by a popular website WABetaInfo, the feature is called ‘in-app notifications’ and it will be used to make new announcements on WhatsApp. Currently, WhatsApp makes all the new announcements through its blog, however, soon users would be able to directly get these on the app. These in-app updates could direct users to a specific website or even require them to take a particular action. This feature will not be used by WhatsApp for advertising purposes.

The first new announcement made by WhatsApp using this feature is the new Terms of Service which states that WhatsApp is releasing their new terms and also sheds light on the main aim of the update.
A previous report by Mashable said that WhatsApp will be updating its Terms of Service in 2021 and WhatsApp users will have to accept it or they will have to delete their account. West Indies pacer Kemar Roach, who lost his father Andrew Smith recently, might miss the second Test against New Zealand which gets underway on December 11.
New Zealand defeated Jason Holder-led side by an innings and 134 runs to register their biggest win in terms of runs against the West Indies here at Seddon Park on Sunday. Roach, who had played this game soon after the news of the death of his father, might return home to join his family.
The West Indies skipper said the side is doubtful of Shane Dowrich’s availability for the second Test too. Dowrich had picked up a finger injury on the first day of the opening Test while keeping and didn’t bat in either innings.
“Kemar, thankfully for us he pushed through this Test match but I think he’ll be going home after this to be with his family,” ESPNcricinfo quoted Holder as saying.
“Shane, we’re not quite sure the extent of his finger injury at the moment. He’s been complaining of a lot of pain. Looking pretty doubtful for the second Test as well, but we’ve just got to assess for the next couple of days,” he added.
With this win, New Zealand has taken a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series. The second and final Test between the two sides begins December 11 at Wellington.
A study published online on Menopause, the journal of The North American Menopause Society (NAMS) found that earlier development of menopause symptoms can be alleviated with sufficient volume and intensity of physical activity.
Menopause is the natural suspension, of a woman’s menstrual cycle, which marks the end of fertility. In most cases, women experience menopause by the age of 52, but pelvic or ovarian damage may cause sudden menopause earlier in life. Genetics or underlying conditions may also be a reason for an early onset of menopause.
The symptoms of Menopause may also arise as a result of radiotherapy to the pelvic field, surgical removal of the ovaries, or systemic chemotherapy. When such procedures occur in pre-menopausal or peri-menopausal women, they often result in sudden and sometimes irreversible menopause that is accompanied by more frequent and severe menopause symptoms.
Various cancer-treating endocrine therapies, such as the use of tamoxifen, can also amplify symptoms, especially hot flashes. The study involved nearly 300 women to investigate the association between self-reported physical activity and menopause symptoms. In addition, the researchers evaluated whether intervention targeting lifestyle behavior could improve changes in physical activity levels and menopause symptoms.
Results suggest that menopause symptoms are less severe in women with medium to high levels of physical activity than in women with low levels of such activity. The intervention, however, was not determined to play a role in increasing physical activity in women being treated for breast, reproductive, or blood cancers.
Although this was not the first study to examine the association of physical activity with menopause symptoms, it was the first to look specifically at the volume and intensity of physical activity. Severe menopause symptoms, including poor mental well-being, are associated with a sedentary lifestyle and low physical activity, even in women experiencing natural menopause.
Researchers of the current study additionally found that women being treated for breast cancer, for example, who experience worse menopause symptoms are less likely to engage in health-promoting behaviors. On the basis of study results, researchers suggest that an increased focus on exercise training should be part of the long-term maintenance program for women after cancer treatment.
The results were published in the article ‘Physical activity and menopausal symptoms in women who have received menopause-inducing cancer treatments: results from the Women’s Wellness After Cancer Program.’ Dr. Stephanie Faubion, NAMS medical director said, “This study highlights some of the many known benefits of exercise in women with or without cancer. Although the exercise was not associated with less bothersome hot flashes, findings consistent with prior studies, it may help with other menopause symptoms, including mood and sleep disturbances.”
Leaders of the farmer groups had met representatives of the Centre
New Delhi –
The protest by farmers agitating against the three agriculture laws passed by the Centre entered its eleventh day on Sunday with demonstrations in Sant Nirankari Samagam ground in Burari on the outskirts of Delhi and other border areas.
Leaders of the farmer groups had met representatives of the Centre, led by Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister for Commerce Piyush Goyal and Minister of State for Commerce Som Prakash on December 5 for the fifth round of talks to end the deadlock over the new farm laws.
The meeting remained inconclusive, and the Centre announced another meeting on December 9. Agriculture Minister Tomar after the meeting reassured the agitating farmers that the APMCs will not be weakened and MSP will continue as he urged farmer unions to give up their agitation and solve their grievances through talks.
Meanwhile, a nationwide shutdown has been called by the protesting farmers on December 8. The Delhi Traffic Police on Saturday closed seven borders to the national capital, including Singhu, Auchandi, Lampur, Piao Maniyari, Mangesh, Tikri and Jharoda and issued advisories.
At Saturday’s dialogue, the Centre had given a pointwise written reply of the minutes of the fourth meeting after farmers’ representatives asked for it. Farmers said that they need a solution or commitment from the Centre and did not want further discussion.
On December 3, the farmers held the fourth round of talks with the Centre and said the government had talked of bringing some amendments to farm laws. In the fourth round of the meeting, farmer leaders suggested the government to hold a special session of the Parliament and sought the abolition of the three farm laws.
The farmers are protesting against the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
