BJP senior leader and MLA O Rajagopal has said that the stand of Kerala Governor, who crushed the move of the ruling party and the Opposition to destroy democracy, is “courageous”.

“The legislature does not have the power to question a law signed by the President, which is passed by a clear majority in both houses of the Indian Parliament. The speaker was trying to do something beyond his powers. The governor, who is responsible for protecting the constitution, blocked this attempt is the victory of democracy,” Rajagopal said.

The passenger from the UK test Covid-19 positive

Tamil Nadu Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan on Tuesday said, Passenger from UK Covid-19 positive, but not confirmed if it’s a new variant

Amid rising concerns over the discovery of a new strain of coronavirus in the UK, Tamil Nadu Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan on Tuesday said that a man who arrived from the country tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, but added that it is not confirmed if he is infected with the new variant of the virus.

“We are testing for COVID-19 passengers of flights originating or halting in the UK. One such passenger tested positive yesterday. It’s incorrect to presume that he is infected with the UK variant of COVID. We will send his samples to NIV in Pune,” said Radhakrishnan.

He added that state authorities are also identifying the people who travelled to the UK in the last 10 days and ensuring they all test negative in RT-PCR testing.

On December 20, Prime Minister Boris Johnson had informed the public that a new variant of the COVID-19 virus has been found in the UK.

IT, pharma stocks lift market sentiment, HCL Tech top gainer

The National Stock Exchange were in the positive terrain with Nifty IT advancing by 3.3 per cent, pharma by 2.2 per cent, metal by 1.3 per cent and auto by 0.8 per cent.

Equity benchmark indices closed nearly 1 per cent higher on Tuesday in an extremely volatile session as investors weighed the impact of a new strain of Covid-19 on global economic recovery.

Fresh lockdowns in Britain and concerns over the near-term growth impact dampened investor sentiment worldwide. Indian markets, however, defied that trend. The BSE S&P Sensex closed 453 points or 0.99 per cent higher at 46,007 while the Nifty 50 edged up by 138 points or 1.03 per cent to 13,466.
All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the positive terrain with Nifty IT advancing by 3.3 per cent, pharma by 2.2 per cent, metal by 1.3 per cent and auto by 0.8 per cent.

Among stocks, HCL Technologies gained by 5.3 per cent to close at Rs 917 per share. Tech Mahindra was up by 4.1 per cent, Infosys by 3.6 per cent and Wipro by 2.9 per cent.

Adani Ports ticked up by 5.5 per cent to Rs 468.90 per share while Sun Pharma added gains of 2.6 per cent to wind up the day at Rs 566.90 per unit.
GAIL, Power Grid Corporation and Nestle India too close with gains of over 2.5 per cent.

Meanwhile, European stocks steadied in early trade after heavy losses a day earlier sparked by fears over a highly infectious new strain of Covid-19 as Washington approved an 892 billion dollar pandemic relief package.
But Asian shares slipped with Japan’s Nikkei down by 1.04 per cent and Hang Seng by 1.03 per cent.

The new strain of coronavirus, said to be up to 70 per cent more transmissible than the original, caused travel chaos and raised the prospect of food shortages days before Britain is set to leave the European Union.

Lampard says Chilwell ‘doubtful’ for Arsenal match

Lampard says Chilwell ‘doubtful’ for Arsenal match

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard said it is “doubtful” that Ben Chilwell will be available for the club’s clash against Arsenal after the player picked up a blow during the match against West Ham.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard said it is “doubtful” that Ben Chilwell will be available for the club’s clash against Arsenal after the player picked up a blow during the match against West Ham.

Chelsea secured a 3-0 win against West Ham in the Premier League on Tuesday but the only blot was an injury to Chilwell early on. The full-back rolled his right ankle after making a challenge and despite his best efforts, couldn’t run it off. Emerson Palmieri replaced Chilwell in the match.

“I expect he (Chilwell) will be doubtful for Arsenal. He turned his ankle, tried to carry on but it was too painful so we’ll have a scan or whatever tomorrow and try to see how bad he is,” the club’s official website quoted Lampard as saying.

After the match, Chilwell took to Twitter to write: “Back to winning ways. Hopefully, injury is not so bad.”
Thiago Silva scored the opening goal of the match in the 10th minute, followed by a late brace from Tammy Abraham which sealed a comfortable win for Chelsea.
Reflecting on the match, Lampard said it was a “beautiful” display from his team.

“The performance was really good against a team with the quality of West Ham and what they’re doing at the moment,” he said.
“Our defensive game was great. I wasn’t sure it would be a beautiful game because there was a bit of pressure today and they’re a good side but the lads dealt with that side of it really well,” Lampard added.
Sitting fifth on the Premier League table, Chelsea will take on Arsenal on Saturday.

Smith says Kohli’s absence ‘big loss’ for visitors: Ind vs Aus

Smith says Kohli’s absence ‘big loss’ for visitors: Ind vs Aus

Australia batsman Steve Smith on Tuesday said the absence of Indian skipper Virat Kohli for the remaining three Test matches is going to be a “big loss” for visitors.

Virat Kohli would not be there for the visitors for the remainder of the series as he will be heading back home after being granted paternity leave by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Smith said there must have been pressure on the Indian skipper to stay with the team and appreciated Virat Kohli for making the choice of being at home for the birth of his first child.

“I just fist pump in the end and said safe travel and hope everything goes well with the baby. It is a big loss for him and India, not having him for the rest of the series. You have to look at the way he played in first innings, was a pretty class display on good bowling,” Smith said during a virtual press conference.

“Wicket was doing a bit and I had said it before and will say it again, credit to him to stand up and say I wanna go home for the birth of his first child. I am sure there would have been pressure on him to stay but credit to him,” he added.

Smith, who has a great record at the Boxing Day Tests, has smashed over 900 runs with three half-centuries.
The 31-year-old said he always dreamt of batting in the Boxing Day Test. And now when he is living his dream, he said walking out to bat in the Boxing Day Test gives him “shivers down the spine”.

“Yeah, ten years it is quite hard to believe. Look it’s been since then, I have grown as a player over that time. My Boxing Day record is probably the best in Australia among all grounds. I like batting at MCG,” Smith said.

“On a big occasion, I like to try and make most of them. You get shivers down the spine when walk out to bat at boxing day, the crowd yelling. It is like a dream come true. Because as a kid I always wanted to play in boxing day Test match,” he further said.
India and Australia will lock horns in the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, beginning December 26.

MX TakaTak’s vision is to create success stories of fame, increased fandom and eventual fortune for its community of content creators

MX TakaTak has made me a part of a reality show, and for me there can be nothing greater than that,” Says Rizwan Khan, Fame House Participant

The thriving community of content creators on digital have won the hearts of millions of Indians with their easy to watch short format videos. At the forefront of innovation in this space, MX TakaTak’s vision is to create success stories of fame, increased fandom and eventual fortune for its community of content creators that is brought alive by the MX TakaTak Fame House.

7 Days, 1 House and India’s top influencers as inmates – this unique reality show, with all the elements for unadulterated entertainment, sees 18 influencers put under one roof to create, collab and chill. These 18 participants got a chance not only to collaborate and create engaging content, but also to grow their fanbase by millions and walk away even more famous because of this reality show that can be watched by MX Player’s large viewer base.

Rizwan Khan is a hobby actor with a huge fan-following on MX TakaTak – a short video platform, and we caught up with the rising star to find out what his experience has been like at the MX TakaTak Fame House.

Excerpts from the interview…

You forte is acting, how did you think of showcasing your talent on Social Media? What has the journey been like?

People think that a video I posted went viral and I became a star overnight, but it is not like that. It has been a long journey filled with struggle. I have harboured this dream of wanting to become a model or an actor since I was in the 8th standard. Everyone kept telling me that it needs a lot of support from others and you need good financial backing, but I wanted to prove everyone wrong by doing it on my own mettle.

I tried various platforms and have been @riz_xtar right from the beginning. I had to give it up in between because our financial condition was not very good, and I did odd jobs from selling tickets and popcorn at theatres to mascoting outside shops for mobile brands. I used to use the #joker because I believe, “Life to joker jaisi hi hai, dar dar thokar, dar dar mazak,” and soon started being called Joker. I used to make short videos and post in my spare time on social media. After I joined MX TakaTak right from the initial days, I have enjoyed a good following. So TakaTak has helped me scale new heights.

Can you share your experience of being a part of the Fame House with us?

It was outstanding. I had never thought I will ever be a part of a reality show! MX TakaTak has made me a part of a reality show, and for me there can be nothing greater than that. It actually sunk in the day after I reached Goa that I am a part of a reality show and motivated me. I decided right there that I will surely prove myself before I leave Fame House.

Did your followers increase after your stint at the Fame House? By how much did it grow?

My following rose from 1.1M to 2.7M on TakaTak in the  short span of time after Fame House.

Did you get endorsements post the show? If, yes, which brands have approached you?

Yes, not only after joining Fame House but even before that I was approached by an online shopping portal called Bulbul for shoes and branding. A lot of marketing firms have contacted me to sign me up and offers are still pouring in, but I have refused their offers as I don’t want to ever go into the employee mode again. There two types of people, those who enter movies and those who make their own movies, I want to be from that category. I want to write my own destiny.

MX Takatak has taken the initiative to make a star out of you? What do you think about it?

I thought it was a great initiative. They managed to get so many influencers under one roof. Whether good or bad, we got to know so many things about each other along with an opportunity to collaborate and create content.

Did you learn any new skills at the Fame House or do you think your original skills were enhanced? Did you get to learn anything new from anyone?

The world is such that people are nice to you on your face but behind your back they say bad things about you. So, I used to hang around more with the production unit and try and understand what they do and learn things from them rather than hanging out with the other influencers.

Any Fan /Follower moment post Fame House you would like to share?

I had told my fans that I am going to be a part of a reality show, but nobody believed me till it went live on the 18th. I go by the name of @riz_xtar and my fans have a hashtag for me – #xstarmy. They are crazy and you will see their comments and likes everywhere. I consider my fans to be like my family and share everything with them. In return I get a lot of love and adulation from them.

Did you make any friends /enemies at the Fame House?

I think I can be a better enemy than a friend, so I did make quite a few enemies out there. Actually, I don’t make friends that easily.

What was your most memorable moment at the Fame House?

(Laughs) I will be remembered as the guy who instigated the girls to fight. A lot of things then unfolded behind the scenes that I would not like to share with anyone.

Witness his journey in one of the biggest races for fame & recognition, with an MX Exclusive SeriesMX TakaTak Fame House Season 1.
