Smith praised Sachin Tendulkar for straight drive and on-drive.

Australia batsman Steve Smith on Tuesday said that he loved to watch Sachin Tendulkar bat and he also praised the Master Blaster’s straight drive and on-drive.

Smith was doing a Q&A session on Instagram and it was then that he was asked about his opinion on Sachin Tendulkar. Answering the query, Smith replied: “Used to love (to see) Sachin bat, especially when he used to hit the ball down the ground, his straight drive and on-drive used to be sublime, they were great to watch.”

As part of Q&A, Smith named Roger Federer as his favorite tennis player and he also revealed AB de Villiers as his favorite Proteas cricketer.
Earlier in the day, Smith said that he has been able to find clarity of mind and body ahead of the limited-overs series against India, which gets underway on Friday.

India and Australia are slated to square off against each other in three ODIs, three T20Is, and four Tests. The tour will commence with the three-match ODI series, slated to begin in Sydney.

“I was pretty disappointed actually with my batting throughout the IPL. I never really got into a good rhythm, but I think the last few days actually I’ve found something. People close to me that know me well, I’ve found my hands the last few days, which I’m extremely excited about,” he said.
After the white-ball leg, both sides will shift their attention to the longest format of the game. The first Test between India and Australia will be a day-night contest.

The four-match series will be a part of the World Test Championship (WTC). Australia is on top of the standing while India is in the second position after ICC altered the points system for WTC due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier in the day, Cricket Australia interim Chief Executive Officer Nick Hockley confirmed that the day-night Test between India and Australia in Adelaide will go ahead as planned.

South Australia had imposed a lockdown after a cluster of COVID-19 cases were detected last week, putting the pink-ball Test between the two sides under the scanner. Hockley informed that the situation is now under control and the lockdown was lifted on November 21 adding that he is very ‘excited’ about the pink-ball Test which will go ahead as per the schedule i.e. on December 17.

There was a small cluster of COVID cases last week and we have given assurance by the South Australian government that it is been contained and the lockdown was lifted on Saturday. So we are confident that the Adelaide Test will go ahead as scheduled,” Hockley had said in a virtual press conference.

“We have been fortunate that there has been relatively negligible community transmission but we are taking precautions. As I said we are confident that the first Test will go ahead in Adelaide as scheduled and I am very excited about it,” Hockley had stated while replying to ANI’s query.

November 24th: Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Martyrdom Day

November 24th: Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Martyrdom Day

Celebration of Guru Tegh Bahadur the Ninth Sikh Gurus supreme sacrifice

In India’s Sikh History, Guru Tegh Bahadur Martyrdom was an extremely important event. Guru Tegh Bahadur was the ninth Sikh Guru. He undertook the prime sacrifice of life for the people who were not even from his community. Guru Tegh Bahadur is also known as Hind Ki Chadar i.e. Shield of India. In his memory, every year, 24th November is observed as his Martyrdom Day. It is known that Guru Tegh Bahadur Martyrdom was the first ever martyrdom for human rights in the World.

Guru Tegh sacrificed his life for human rights – freedom to practice freely any religion without any hindrance or interference. A unique fact about the ninth sikh guru is that he was not just fighting for the rights of his own people, but also for the non-sikhs, the people of Kashmir. The Kashmiris were known to be respectable Hindus, and they were being threatened to convert to Islam.

In 1675, the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb beheaded Guru Tegh Bahadur at Chandni Chowk, Delhi. It was the time when the word freedom was not even known by the people and even basic rights were denied to people. Aurangzeb wanted to convert India into a Islamic Nation. The Hindus were forced to convert to Islam or else be executed.

Every year on this day, the Sikh worship places are filled with the sound of chanting of the Bachittar Natak. This is a composition recorded by his son, Guru Gobind Singh, recounting his life. A number of Sikh temples have been built in the honour of Guru Tegh Bahadur. The Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib, Delhi, was built in the space of his house, which was burnt down by his disciple. Guru’s body has also been cremated in the same space as his house.

Going into the series against Australia, India pacer Mohammad Siraj has said that he aims to fulfill his father’s dream of playing for the country

Siraj’s father passed away on Friday, but the pacer who has earned his first Test call-up decided to stay back in Australia and not return home.
“It is a very big loss for me, my father always supported me. It was his dream that I keep on playing for India and make the country proud. I just want to fulfill my father’s dream and that is why I keep on thinking that my father will always be there with me,” Siraj told BCCI.TV. “In this situation, every team member has supported me and it really felt nice. Virat Bhai also told me not to worry and he asked me to stay strong. I talked to my mother and she told me to stay back in Australia and fulfill my father’s dream,” he added.

On Saturday, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly had also praised Siraj and lauded the character shown by him after the latter decided to stay back in Australia despite losing his father.

The 26-year-old recently played the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

He managed to take 11 wickets from nine matches this season for the Virat Kohli-led side.
The Indian squad is currently in the middle of a 14-day quarantine period in Australia and all players have been training in Sydney with an eye on the protocols put in place to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
India and Australia are slated to lock horns in three ODIs, three T20Is, and four Tests. The first ODI will be played on November 27 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
