During these trying times when everyone is dealing with anxiety and uncertainty, the Sheoran siblings are not only motivating others to stay fit through their daily fitness routines but are actively working towards fighting against the deadly pandemic through their continued financial contributions and other social efforts. This duo has set a groundbreaking example on how to utilize this lockdown period for the benefit of self and the society in a balanced way.
Vishwajeet Sheoran is the elder brother of the famous Indian pistol shooter Gauri Sheoran. Gauri got her early inspiration to start a career in shooting from her brother. Like Gauri, Vishwajeet is also a very able pistol shooter and has even represented India at the international level. He has numerous achievements under his name as an Indian pistol Shooter. A silver medal at ISSF Junior Cup in Suhl, Germany in 25-meter sport pistol. A gold medal in the Asian Shooting Championship, Kuwait. An honour of participating in the senior World Cup held in Munich and another in Slovenia. A certification of participation in the World Championship of Spain, then the World University Games of Korea, and then even of Poland.
A Punjab University Law graduate, Vishwajeet, made a great impact on his sister with all these extraordinary achievements and hence, is now the primary source of motivation behind Gauri who is pacing rapidly towards the achievement of her dreams with several winnings to her name. She, since the start of her career, has represented India in 34 International championships and is a proud holder of 26 medals, including a gold medal in World University Championship Kuala Lumpur 2018, Junior World Cup, Asian Shooting Championship and South Asian Games Kathmandu 2019.
In their bid to support the Nation against COVID-19, Vishwajeet and Gauri have donated an undisclosed amount to the Haryana Corona Relief Fund. Understanding the dire need of the moment these Corona Warriors realized that a mere contribution of money would not be enough, therefore, they even distributed 6,000 food packages, 5,000 masks, and 2,000 sanitizers in Panchkula and Chandigarh region to the ones in need. They have personally volunteered to do the best that one could during this dark phase. As a Corona volunteer, Vishwajeet personally enlightened the masses regarding the importance of social distancing as well. He went the extra mile to make sure that the message of the virtue of social distancing reaches all.
Fighting the Covid-19 pandemic is the biggest challenge that the country is facing at the moment. This does not only include the external fight against the virus but the internal one with oneself as well. It is getting difficult with each passing day to deal with the prevailing lockdown, which in turn is hampering the productivity and even the mental health of several individuals. The duo believes, “We are dealing with the worst pandemic of the century, and the need to strengthen our immunity has become crucial. It is important to fit in a good 30-45 minute daily session for exercise and check what one is putting inside their body. Since many are still working from home and gyms are closed, finding the right workout session and monitoring eating habits can be difficult.”
With this, they wish to convey that everyone is capable of taking care of themselves and the ones around them. And anyone and everyone should even practice this for a happy lifestyle. While Gauri is pursuing online fashion courses, Vishwajeet has utilized this time to gain a better knowledge of certain subjects with the fulfilment of Wada anti-doping and fitness-related online courses. He concludes, “If we can, then you can too. Let’s make the most of this lockdown and turn it to an opportunity.”
