Ruling the 90s with his music, Anu Malik has always been one of the top music directors of Bollywood. With songs ranging from Julie Julie to Tere Dar Par Sanam to Baazigar O Baazigar to Oonchi hai Building to even the latest Dum Laga Ke Haisha; time and again Anu Malik has proven his versatility and brilliance creating over 100 hit songs. His unique style of music and his promptness of creating tunes in a blink of an eye have created for him a niche in the industry that has stood relevant across decades.
Iconic music director and one of India’s most loved reality TV judge, Anu Malik is back again with Sony TV for the upcoming season of Indian Idol to complete the trio panel along with two other super hit musicians.
With a career spanning over more than 4 decades, Anu Malik, even today, forms a part of the most talented gems of the Indian film industry with a legacy of songs and music that the whole country has sworn by. His unique blend of western-inspired tunes along with the thumping beats of the table is something that has set him apart from others and has become a constant favourite amongst the youth of all generations.
Hailing from a family of musicians and taking his learnings at a young age of seven from his father and legendary musician Sardar Malik, he mastered the art of creating refreshing tunes within seconds thereby stepping foot in the world of musical creations. It was however at the age of 20 that Anu Malik entered Bollywood as a music director for the movie ‘Hunterwali’ in 1977 swaying the industry with his one of a kind melodies and beats.
Although his music created curious interest among the audience, it was only in 1993 when he created the music for ‘Baazigar’ that Anu Malik’s music hit the charts and won the audiences’ hearts. His songs ‘Baazigar O Baazigar’, ‘Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen’ not only became a fan-favourite but also bagged him his first Filmfare award as a music director marking the beginning of his success.
Anu Malik then went on to create music that cut across genres ranging from flirty numbers like ‘Garam Chai ki Pyali’, ‘Oonchi hai building’ to the pop hit ‘Gori Gori’ and ‘Tumse Milke Dil Ka Hai Jo Haal’ for ‘Main Hoon Na’ and also to the latest sweet melodies like ‘Moh Moh Ke Dhaage’ for ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’, and Sui Dhaaga.
