Meet Syam Babu who is turning eyeballs with conceptual photoshoots amid the pandemic

This South-India based photographer is gaining attention globally with a photography series holding the baton a class apart.

A week back, the cover shoot of a regional magazine in Kerala, and its behind-the-scene videos have been trending on social media platforms.  The shoot portrayed Molly Kannamali, an elderly actress from Malayalam film and television industry.

What excited the audience was an unexpected make over and the gorgeous postures the actress adored in a couple of western outfits. All these hold a wonderful backstory starting with the effortful planning done by Syam Babu, a prominent fashion and celebrity photographer from South India. He has created a huge benchmark among the fashion industry with a bold take on beauty and pride, transcending myths of beauty over age.

As Syam’s next assignment photographs are out, the fans of Modern Kannamaali shoot are in all praise and smiles

As COVID-19 made an adverse impact on the pattern of the world and protocols suggest social distancing, Syam proves it that there are a lot of ways in which the humanity can still prove that we all are in this fight together, against this pandemic.

This time Syam has come up with a very unique conceptual photography series portraying five models from five different parts of the world. In a situation that sounds so troublesome even for a normal fashion shoot, he has made use of the now-normal communication technology and collaborative techniques to photograph every model, being miles apart.

The shoot has went viral in social media, that portrays models – Maria Jorda, Pasa Mahallesi, Merel Trip, Cecilia Kongwa and Aileena Catherin from Spain, Turkey, Dubai, Africa and India respectively. All the five shoots are done outdoor, in order to showcase the noted elements of each city the model belong to.

While a normal fashion shoot include four or five departments, including photographer, stylist, costume designer, makeup artist, model and a lot of assistants. A shoot as such has opened ways for Syam Babu and his models to enact multiple roles, and still not compromise on the quality of output.

The garments that each of them used were from their own wardrobe, as suggested by Syam to make it simple with a black colored top wear, and any printed bottom wear of the model’s choice. Moreover, the makeup and accessorizing were also done by themselves according to the dress code.

While there are several factors that make a photograph beautiful, the part of emotional connection between the model and the photographer plays a crucial role. In this case, it was not that easy for him to practically implement his ideas by finding the suitable models from different countries and make them comfortable enough to pose the way he wants.

Syam has tried to maintain the uniformity within all the photographs by choosing the color black for the outfit, which represent strength and power indicating the fact that ‘ We are all united, and unity is our strength’.

Syam Babu who has 18 years of experience in this field, has already gained attention for coming up with distinctive photographs with minimalistic props and settings.

He has worked with a lot of big names like Brett Lee, Sandesh Jhingan, Shankar Mahadevan, Vikram, Mamooty, Dulquer Salmaan, Manju Warrier, Priya P Varrier,  Alexa Strange, Aishwarya Pissay, Tovino and several other national and international level celebrities.

Out of the many projects that left a remark in Syam’s career, the cover shoot did for a magazine portraying a physically handicapped woman, who lost her hands and legs in an accident, was a critically lauded one. He also did a photo shoot with a transgender celebrity, for one of the prominent news magazines in India.

Tourism to be relieved from lockdown in J&K

Srinagar, J&K —

After the Jammu and Kashmir administration enforced a lockdown in the Union Territory to combat the spread of novel Coronavirus, the tourism sector is now likely to be relieved from lockdown restrictions.

As per local media reports, the Lieutenant Governor-led administration has been holding discussions with various stakeholders for opening the tourist places in the State.

The consensus to re-open tourist spots among all stakeholders including the concerned government officials has emerged. Yesterday, J&K Government’s official spokesman, Rohit Kansal tweeted that the UT will reopen for tourism soon. He added that the detailed guidelines will be announced soon.

A Tourism department official, wishing anonymity, said that since the sector has borne the brunt of the situation in Kashmir and needs an immediate push, re-opening of tourism spots in Kashmir will help revive the industry.

He added, “There have been detailed deliberations with all the tourism stakeholders including Shikarawalas, houseboat owners, hotel and restaurant owners etc.”

“SoPs are in the final stage. Re-opening of picnic spots and gardens in Kashmir will take place in the days ahead for sure,” he revealed.

Meanwhile, sources said that the administration is going to announce the re-opening of public parks and gardens and an official order in this regard will be made public soon.

When contacted, the Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan confirmed the re-opening of parks and gardens. He, however, said, “Wearing of mask, social distancing and hand hygiene is must and people should strictly abide by the government advisories.”

Pertinently, the valley has been under shutdown since August last year, when the BJP-led central government scrapped Article 370, bifurcating J&K into two Union territories. A total communication clampdown followed thereafter. This has hit the tourism sector badly for almost a year now.

SIIB renovates methods of education amid Covid-19 pandemic

Along with upskilling of faculty, the students of SIIB have been offered numerous free courses and programs from edX and Coursera.

Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB), established in the year 1992 has a long history of imparting quality education in the field of International Business, Agribusiness and Energy and Environment. It has been recognized as a B- School that combines an excellent academic foundation with a strong leadership perspective. SIIB is always at the forefront to adopt to new changes and is known for creating future-ready global managers.

As the clouds of uncertainty looming over, due to COVID- 19 pandemic, SIIB as a prominent B-School in the country, has implement all required measures for the safety of students who were then on the campus. They worked on a multi-pronged strategy to manage the crisis as well as build a resilient education system for the long run. Fortunately, the academic sessions for both the batches (2018-20) and (2019-21) were over and examinations had just started then.

SIIB and SIU were proactive enough to come out with practical solutions to complete evaluation for the academic year 2019-20. The entire online exam platform was quickly made operational and in fact, by 10th April, 2020, pending evaluations were completed successfully in virtual mode using technology.

For SIIB, student’s learning experience with utmost safety has always been of paramount importance.  Since the start of the pandemic, various initiatives were taken at the school to keep them engaged and motivated.  Number of workshops were conducted for the students on the online mode where industry experts guided students on how to cope up with the ongoing crisis and get them prepared for the future.

Due to sudden lockdown, even the formal Stepping out day for the passing out batch could not be conducted in person.  As there was no sign of easing out of the situation, the Stepping out day was conducted in a virtual mode.

Commenting on this, Dr. Asmita Chitnis, Director, SIIB,said, “SIIB as an institute doesn’t want to leave any stone unturned for its students. It has registered with Coursera for providing its students with free courses in various disciplines. Moreover, edX has offered SIIB through its Remote Access program, a number of online courses across various disciplines which can be availed free of cost”.

In this extraordinary situation, various activities at the B-school are getting impacted. Most important being the withdrawal of job offers from corporates. To overcome this, the entire Corporate Relations Team of SIIB along with the Director are in constant touch with the corporates. As a result, most of the job offers made to the final year students were protected and so were the Summer Internship offers for the first-year students. Every single student of SIIB has either completed the Summer Internship Program (SIP) or is undergoing it without compromising on their learning experience.

The Student MentorshipProgram (SMP) at SIIB which aims at enhancing an overall experience for the students while they are on campus. In this program, each student is assigned a faculty mentor. During these crises, SIIB has made every possible effort through its mentorship program to not just ensure academic guidance to students, but has also ensured that student’s mental well-being is taken care of. Utmost importance has been given to this activity so that students remain positive throughout this phase.

It is a known fact that life post COVID-19 will not be the same. SIIB has made all necessary changes in its teaching-learning process so as to begin with the academic sessions for both the batches (2019-21) and (2010-22) in the virtual mode. The transition to online mode was certainly not very simple. Throughout the lockdown period, the faculty have upskilled and reskilled themselves so as to get ready for this new way of teaching with able support from non-teaching staff. Everyone at SIIB has contributed wholeheartedly and has risen to the occasion. This will certainly ensure that the teaching learning process is not affected during global pandemic and we don’t compromise on quality as well as experience.

In these testing times, a well-rounded and effective educational practice is needed for the capacity-building of young minds. This helps them in developing skills that will drive their employability, productivity, health, and well-being in the decades to come, thus helping our country in the long run.

India will Lose Trillions Due to Crypto Ban- An Analysis by Adv P M Mishra

In conversation with Digpu, Adv P M Mishra talks about the stance of various countries over cryptocurrency regulations.

When countries like USA, UK, China, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Australia and Russia along with small countries like Cambodia, Estonia can think about crypto regulation, it is really surprising to see the Indian Government thinking about banning cryptocurrencies.

In conversation with Digpu, Adv P M Mishra talks about the stance of various countries over cryptocurrency regulations. He talks about a comparison of the impact of this ban on the countries in the long run.

Adv Mishra says that he has analysed the various regulations in different countries and was quite invested in knowing how the government in those countries encouraged regulated cryptocurrency. He has somewhat understood what hindered the same process in India and why cryptocurrency got such hype in India even after being regulated by other countries.

As per Adv P M Mishra, “The Finance Ministry has proposed legislation that bans the use of cryptocurrency in India and makes violations punishable with a fine or with one to ten years of imprisonment. Called the ‘Banning of Cryptocurrency & Regulation of Official Digital Currency Bill, 2019’, the bill states that ‘cryptocurrency shall not be used as legal tender or currency at any place in India’. It also makes promotion, advertising, and abetment in the participation of use of cryptocurrency punishable with a fine, or prison term of up to 7 years. It makes a repeat offence punishable with a prison sentence of 5-10 years along with a fine.”

The committee’s rationale for banning cryptocurrencies is that cryptocurrency is unreliable, harmful to customers, can cause interference in the monetary policy and regulation of monetary policy. In addition to that, the committee disregards it for not being money at all.

Also Read: Crypto & Forex Ponzi Scheme on the rise amid COVID-19

Let’s try to figure out answers of all these points & conclude it –

  1. They are not money at all – None of the countries in the world has treated Crypto as Legal tender and neither should India.
  2. Value is unreliable – If it is so then how come are big investment houses & world-renowned business houses investing crypto? Have we really done our exhaustive research well here?
  3. It’s harmful to the consumer – We need to frame policies to prevent the same, it is a technology which can be regulated for sure. This technology is absolutely traceable but the government needs a strict policy framework. Just like America’s Compliance Program made possible the restitution of half a million dollars to fraud Victims of Bitcoin.
  4. Mining Cryptocurrency requires a high volume of electricity – So far it is still debatable if there is any doubt in this, then we can use solar power but we have to get into the business as other countries. Cryptocurrency is not only a digital asset but we need to understand the way China is trying to market it’s digital currency globally otherwise India will lose the edge here. We also need to study Japan’s crypto regulation model.

In conclusion, Adv P M Mishra from Finlaw Consultancy says that the way India is emerging as an aggressive nation these days, it is hard to believe that the government will ban Cryptocurrency. If at all Government will decide in favour of Crypto ban, then India will lose the dollar battle globally. Other countries like China, Japan and Australia will lead the show and India will only remain a service provider.

India is a great country having the capability and the boon of youth. The government should study each countries’ regulation once again looking at current situation, prepare regulatory framework with minimum permission & observe how it works. In the meantime, we can train all regulators & law enforcement agencies on Crypto Scam, so that consumer should not suffer.

Probable Indian regulations for cryptocurrency –

  1. 100% bank account transaction on crypto Buy & Sale or else 200% penalty.
  2. Allow only BITCOIN, Etherium, XRP & for Other Private coin put Security Deposit with regulators.
  3. Three months Audit for Exchange.
  4. Tech audit & clearance committee submission each week by Exchanges.
  5. Bank Account in Limited Banks after Due Police verification of Exchange Owner & Technology Provider.

Adv Mishra hopes that the current Indian government will definitely look into this matter & and there can be some positive news for the Indian Crypto Community.

Farm to Fork – The Pig Man of India

DLG Farms, under the leadership of O.K.Sanjit pioneers in pure line exotic breeds in India.

In a country such as India, where people love non-vegetarian food and like to experiment with new cuisines, it is necessary to have a dedicated outlet for the same. The country has people doing great in fisheries, chicken, and other varieties of meat, but it still lacked a special space for pork. Realizing the need and demand for safe pork, DLG Farms was founded in 2008 to provide people with hygienic and fresh pork.

DLG Farms was founded by serial entrepreneur O K Sanjit who was an IT professional in the US. After working in Wall Street, New York City for Citibank, Merril Lynch, and Chase Manhattan Bank, he founded and successfully ran three IT companies in Silicon Valley, California. To do something transformative in his own country, he left behind his US life. He identified the opportunity in pig farming and converted a 100-acre barren land into a State of Art pig farm.

Through the adoption of international standards in pig farming, he soon became a leader of the segment. Its swine breeding technique is unique in India. Professionally and scientifically managed breeding system leads to the development of genetically improved Pigs. The company pioneers in pure line exotic breeds in India and the animals are from the USA and UK.

Speaking about his journey from Wall Street, to pig farming, O. K. Sanjit says, “Meat is an essential diet, therefore it is necessary to have easy availability of safe and healthy meat. I examined the opportunities and challenges to find pig rearing to be an economically viable idea. I focused on the weak areas, and prominent among them was the long growth period of the Indian breed of pigs.  We tried to improve the growth cycle through exotic breeds. Meanwhile, I faced challenges on the policy front, as the country still needs a good policy to promote farming.”

Sanjit and his team utilize their IT background in maintaining a record of every pig and genetic process applied to them. The company conducts 3-way breeding using Large White, Landrace, and Duroc. The application of technology makes tracking easy. In India, this is the first instance when data science is being utilized to manage livestock through which each animal is traceable.

The company has tried its best to engage with farmers. It has devised a 3-way mechanism to engage with farmers. The first one is ‘buy-back’, wherein farmers buy piglets, raise them at their farm, and when they weigh around 120 kg, farmers can sell them back to the company.

The second one is the BOT—’build-operate-transfer’ model. DLG will help in identifying the land, design of sheds, procurement of infrastructure and machinery, setting up the feed mill. After the breeder animals are installed on their farm, DLG will train them on high-tech scientific breeding programs and general breeding farm operations.  One DLG Manager will be available at your farm full time for ten months. The third option is ‘Franchisee’, which is a continuation of BOT and DLG—it will stay with the farmer forever to manage the breeding and can use the brand name ‘DLG’.

In a typical DLG Ranch BBQ, celebrity chefs including Sanjit himself who is a chef by choice and a pitmaster, prepare live grills to display the best grill and roasting ways for pork, chicken, and other meat items. The enthusiasts are enlightened on the different ways to consume delicacies.

DLG Farms is the only company in the country doing Farm to Fork.  DLG has its retail chain stores under the brand name Ranch and also serves prestigious groups like the Taj Group of Hotels, The Leela Palace, The Park Hotels, and fine dining restaurants in the country. The company also home delivers ready to eat BBQ items. The retail packets have QR Codes whereby the customer will be able to see the origin of the animals.

Pork rearing and its sale depends upon its demand and safe consumption, therefore the company is leaving no stones unturned in offering top quality pork products in the domestic market.

How Celebrity Turned Entrepreneur Alka Verma is bringing back confidence with Non-Surgical Hair Transplant

Alka Verma has mastered the art of non-surgical hair transplants for men, women, alopecia patients and cancer patients.

Contemplating to get a non-surgical hair transplant, but unable to take that leap of faith? Here are a few facts shared by Infiniti Hair Club that will help you make an informed decision.

To begin with, let’s first understand what a non-surgical hair transplant is? A hair replacement, or non-surgical hair transplant, is a technique of attaching a hair replacement system to the scalp. The hair system is tailor-made to exactly match the colour and density of your natural hair. The process takes around 3-4-hours and you find yourself looking 10 years younger.

The prime reason why this technique has an upper edge to a surgical hair transplant is the ease with which it can be done. Other benefits include immediate results, tailor-made hair density, no medications, pocket-friendly treatments with side effects.

Longevity Of Hair Patches

Well, as each system is made of natural human hair, the lifespan varies from six months to 12 months or more depending on the type of system you choose and how you maintain it.  Timely servicing is the key to the system’s long life. When a system is maintained well, it tends to last longer. The average time to service the system is anywhere between once in 15 days to 30 days depending on the type of hair system attached, your skin type and the climatic conditions you are exposed to.

Maintaining The Hair

This works even if you don’t reside in Mumbai. We have designed a special kit that includes all the necessary products required for servicing of the hair system. This kit enables an individual to service the hair system at his/her convenience. An experienced technician is assigned to train the individual who wishes to avail the kit. Infiniti hair club makes sure that the user continues to enjoy wearing their hair system irrespective of their physical proximity to our centres.

Now, coming to the best part. This hair system does not alter your lifestyle. This means you can continue enjoying your routine life without a hitch. You can go swim, run on a treadmill, work out, or play your favourite sport. You can go scuba diving or go paragliding without a worry. Moreover, you can also shower with the system attached to your scalp.

Is The Hair System Similar To A Wig

A hair system is nothing like a wig. While a wig can be easily noticed, a hair system perfectly blends with your hair. Furthermore, a hair system is customized to match the texture of your natural hair and thus looks 100% natural.

How Much Does a Non-Surgical Hair Replacement Cost?

Since hair replacement systems are specific to the area of the hair thinning, the cost varies from one individual to the other. The price depends on the hair unit which is finalized which in turn depends on a number of factors. There are numerous varieties and kinds of systems, and all differ from one another. Further, they are customized to suit an individual’s specific needs.

A word from the horse’s mouth:

Alka Verma says, “In today’s fast-moving world, we have individuals as young as 15 years coming to us for hair loss issues. While on one hand, I feel really sad that they have to face such trauma, but on the other hand, I look at the bright side and feel grateful that with our hair replacement systems I can replace their trauma with confidence and smiles.”

“Hair loss happens for many reasons; the majority of the cases are related to stress, diet, hereditary and a lot of other reasons. Whatever the reason may be, the solution is simple. Yes, you guessed it right. It’s our ‘hair replacement systems”, she adds. Come in with no hair and walk out with a head full of hair, in the matter of a few hours.
