“One of the first challenges I faced was the redesigning of the Greek syllabus because astronomy and science, in general, in primary education is not supported by the Greek syllabus,” states Rania Lampou who was among the first educators on a global level to combine STE(A)M and astronomy. “I believe that astronomy is a very important area of scientific knowledge. Children are usually fascinated by it, she feels. What distinguishes Rania from others is that she teaches abstract concepts of physics through art, something which has been considered revolutionary in the world of exact sciences.
Rania Lampou is also the founder and international coordinator of five innovative international projects that focus on the UN Goals described in the 2030 Agenda. Chairman and Managing Director at Micro Labs Limited, Dilip Surana, is an illustration of this famous quote. Born in Bangalore and hailing from the village of Bahrani, Pali District, Rajasthan, he always desired to reach heights in the pharmaceutical world.
Today, with over thirty years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Dilip Surana feels content with everything he’s accomplished and achieved over the years. In 1983, when he was young and budding with energy, Dilip Surana took over the operations of his family business and rapidly absorbed the nuances of corporate management.
In early 1994, Dilip Surana pioneered the concept of specialty by introducing various divisions of the pharmaceutical industry, namely, Cardiology, Neuropsychiatry, and Ophthalmology. He also instilled stringent quality standards in the pharmaceutical enterprise. As a result, Micro Labs has to its credit, all the international regulatory approvals, including US FDA, UK MHRA, MCC, South Africa, Health Canada, WHO, Geneva TGA, Australia Medsafe, New Zealand PAHO (USA), IDA (Netherlands), & many regulatory bodies of emerging markets reflecting the high standards of quality, regulatory compliance of research and manufacturing facilities.
Dilip Surana is responsible for diversifying the pharmaceutical manufacturing company with products ranging from oral solids and liquids to topical and injectable. He was influential in setting up thirteen world-class state-of-the-art research and manufacturing facilities for Micro Labs, covering Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs).
At Micro Labs Limited, Dilip Surana overlooks the overall strategic direction, Indian business, and manufacturing. He recurrently participates in various international seminars and summits relating to the pharma industry.
Despite having achieved so much, Dilip Surana still works hard to hold on to the company’s reigns with dignity and diligence. “Set goals, i.e., instead of creating a vision that is unapproachable, one should have a step-based approach to progress towards the vision,” he shares.
Dilip Surana approaches challenges as a part of life. He believes that through hard work, determination, and a bit of luck, anyone can overcome their circumstances and achieve extraordinary success. In this regard, he says, “Accept failure, learn from the mistakes, and move on instead of moaning about it and giving up.”
With this spirit, Dilip has made his thirty years of the professional journey seem like an eventful ride. Of course, challenges, failures, and mistakes were a part of it. But his inspiration and mentor, his father, Shri G.C. Surana, taught him better to make it through these difficulties.
The University of Azteca conferred Dilip an honorary doctorate in pharmaceutical management. In 2020, he appeared on the Global CEO Magazine’s cover feature. He also won the “Responsible Business Leader Award-2019” by the Responsible Business Awards. Not very long ago, he ranked 85th on the Forbes Magazine’s list of the 100 Richest Indians with an estimated net worth of over $1.6 billion.
Dilip is also featured in The CEO Magazine’s first edition in their list of the 14 CEOs The Economist, one of the leading business magazines in the world, including his story in one of their 2016 editions. He also accepted the award for the Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2014. Even while he was pursuing a Bachelors in Pharmacy from Pune University followed by a post-graduation in Business Administration from Sydney, there was a constant urge in Samir Shah to create new innovative things. And thus, soon after he completed his education, he stepped into the pharmaceuticals business in the name of Medico Healthcare.
Samir Shah attributes his biggest learnings to his close-knit family. “The way my family maintained homely relations with all our clients. the one thing I learned was that retaining satisfied clients is a key factor to achieve success,” he says, adding, “Delivering quality and maintaining long term relations with clients and stakeholders are the two main pillars for the success of any organization.”
This vision has taken Medico to the pinnacle. Under Samir’s able leadership, Medico has achieved international fame, thereby helping millions of people worldwide and uplifting those associated with it. It is no cakewalk to transform barren land into a beautifully landscaped paradise within three years. But this is what can be attributed to Samir’s love and exuberance for his beautiful creation in the form of ‘Kings Villas’ – an ultra-luxurious residential project in Ahmedabad.
The idea struck him when he was pursuing post-graduation in the beautiful city of Sydney in Australia. While going around the clean and green city for two years, he started observing the uncommon lifestyle of

Learn with Leaders and Harvard Student Agencies have collaborated on programs for high school students
Brainstorming ideas to design business plans with students from around the globe and mentors from Harvard can be every high school student’s dream come true. The Young Leaders in Innovation & Entrepreneurship program gives students the unique opportunity to share their budding ideas on a global platform and receive guidance from tutors from Harvard.
The collaboration between Harvard Student Agencies (HSA) and Learn with Leaders for The Young Leaders in Innovation & Entrepreneurship program has created a worldwide network of young entrepreneurs. The program has brought together high school students from around 30 countries, including the USA, India, the UAE, Brazil, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, New Zealand, Spain, Colombia, and Canada, to learn about entrepreneurship and innovation.
The entrepreneurship program, spread over two weekends and conducted on the Zoom platform, gives students exclusive opportunities to work together in teams and share diverse ideas. Mentors from Harvard guide the students to creatively generate problem-solving solutions for successful business strategies.
The new batch, starting on 30 January 2021, received an overwhelming response from high school students from India and abroad. With an acceptance rate of only 20%, the program provides a classroom-like learning experience through video conferencing at a fraction of the cost of travelling to Harvard to undertake the program. Students, selected through an interview process, work closely with Harvard instructors to bring to life their entrepreneurial ideas.
‘We strive to educate young minds and inspire them to become great leaders of tomorrow. With this program, we are building and nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs while connecting them with like-minded students worldwide. It is exciting to watch a diverse group communicate flawlessly and create futuristic business plans,’ says Jasmine Chan, Managing Director, Harvard Student Agencies.

Learn with Leaders and Harvard Student Agencies have collaborated on other programs for high school students, including the Scholars in Communication program and the Future Lawyers Program. The Scholars in Communication program focuses on building interaction skills among students so that they are able to convey their thoughts with clarity. The program trains students to move their audience with words and gets them ready for a TEDx Talk. The Future Lawyers Program helps students who want to pursue law to develop in-depth knowledge of legal systems and connects them with students from Harvard Law School.
