To address diverse walks of advanced Biotechnology, speakers from a vast horizon of expertise were invited
Biotechnology plays a definitive role in meeting the unmet medical needs and the advancement of the healthcare sector by bringing innovative new technologies and therapies to market. To showcase this potential of Biotechnology, StemMax Research and Therapeutics Pvt. Ltd. conducted an e-symposium on the topic “Biotechnology- Impact on Human Health in 21st century” on 2nd January 2021. This event witnessed the launch of “Otlu-Academy”, a unit of StemMax which is established with the goal of training the students of Life Sciences and Allied Health Sciences students in the key areas of Stem Cell, Molecular Medicine, Immunology, Cell Culture, Biotechnology and Embryology, thereby, enhancing their chances of successful employment and a better future in the healthcare industry.
The event was opened by Dr Nidhi Khurana, Chief Scientific Officer, StemMax Research and had three sessions which focused on the ‘Role of Biotechnology in advancing diagnostics and therapeutics’, ‘Impact of Advancing Translational Medicine on Innovation’, and ‘Career perspectives in Biotechnology and Human Health. To address these walks of advanced Biotechnology, speakers from a vast horizon of expertise were invited.
“Dr Shilpa Sharma, a pediatric surgeon from AIIMS highlighted on Stem Cell application to treat Liver Cirrhosis which exploits the innate capability of the body to regenerate the liver. Dr Atul Sardana shed light on the use of adipose stem cells technology for the point of care treatment. Prof. Dr Arvind Chhabra, Amity University put forth various career avenues of Biotechnology in the light of advancing healthcare technology.”
The other speakers Dr Suman Chakraborty from IIT Kharagpur; Dr Kanchan Mishra, Surya Raktadan Kendra and research centre; Dr Nidhi Jha, Care and Cure Clinic; Dr Saurabh Jha, Sharda University, and Dr Rashmi Mishra, NIET enlightened the young minds by sharing their knowledge and experience with respect to the potential of biotechnology and its impact on Human Health.
From advancing diagnostics and therapeutics to advancing translational medicine, biotechnology is continuing to touch our lives in a way which leads to meeting the unmet medical needs through innovation. The seed of innovation lies within a human mind and if nurtured in the right manner will yield a fruitful result. Ironically, a large percentage of young minds do not get this opportunity where their talent is nurtured or they gain practical skills. The bitter truth is that “Theory” in case of applied sciences subjects can only do so much and most of it relies on practical skill training. So to witness the potential of Biotechnology happening in real-time, it is important that the young minds are given the right kind of hands-on experience and practical skills in the emerging areas of translational health so that they are firstly updated with the latest healthcare technology trends, understand the direction where the advancement is needed and finally contribute to this growing sector.
“Our idea behind Otlu Academy is exactly to help the students gain practical skills training and provide certificate/ degree programs in the emerging and promising field of Stem Cells, Gene therapy, Regenerative Medicine, Immunotherapy, Molecular Medicine and Basic Molecular biology skills. Our vision for Otlu Academy is to establish it as a dedicated Institute with a profound global network for excelling in advancing healthcare technologies where innovation is fostered, and students are prepared for employability in the healthcare industry”, said Prabhu Mishra, CEO, StemMax Research and Therapeutics Pvt. Homeopathy is proved to be a gentle, safe, and reliable medical treatment that is non-toxic and non-addictive to those people who are suffering from respiratory illnesses
ClinicSpots, a healthcare Q and Answer platform received an alarmingly high number of queries on comprehensive treatment apart from general medicine to respiratory illnesses amid the COVID 19 pandemic that has put the world on edge. Hence, ClinicSpots sought insights from homeopathic doctors regarding their approach to treating respiratory disease.
Dr Jadhav of The Healing Center Advanced Speciality Homeopathy Clinic, a reputed homeopathy clinic in Aurangabad states, ‘Homeopathy can effectively tackle acute bronchitis cases, rhinitis cases, and asthma occurring due to air pollution and seasonal changes. Also, homeopathy offers constitutional treatment to prevent the recurrence of respiratory illness without any side effects.’
Dr Jadhav stresses that patients suffering from respiratory illness are likely to develop lung injuries and lung cancer if they do not seek timely medical intervention. There are indications of structural changes affecting the lungs’ working capacity if their condition is misdiagnosed or not treated properly.

Asthma
Asthma is a complex disease that affects people of all ages. The most common symptoms of asthma are coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath. The patient finds it difficult to breathe normally.
Asthma is a major chronic disease in children of a genetic nature. But increasing air pollution levels and low levels of immunity can aggravate an asthma attack.
Dr Vishal Vernekar who heads AIS Clinic for homeopathy in Hyderabad and Goa has successfully treated many cases of asthma through constitutional treatment. He emphasizes that asthma patients should prevent their exposure to allergens. They should boost their immune system by eating adequate nutrients in their food. Furthermore, an active lifestyle with breathing exercise regimens and maintaining optimum weight are equally important.
Dr Vishal states, ‘Currently, we have a holistic treatment protocol for patients suffering from acute and chronic respiratory illnesses that we further customize as per their condition.’
Bronchitis
Bronchitis is an inflammation of your bronchial tubes’ lining, which carry air to and from your lungs.
It occurs due to a common cold or a respiratory infection in which the patient expel thick, discoloured mucus. Usually, it resolves within a couple of days without lasting effects. Still, repeated bouts of bronchitis can develop into chronic obstructive pulmonary disease COPD, a severe and life-threatening disease.
Dr Jadhav of The Healing Centre, Advanced Homeopathy Centre, “Most of my bronchitis, as well as COPD patients, have fully recovered and lead a normal lifestyle without medicines today. I have treated both acute and chronic bronchitis patients through homeopathy, a safe and reliable treatment modality that works gently on the patient without any side effects.
Allergic rhinitis
Allergic rhinitis is caused by pollen grains, dust mites, chemicals, pet dander, and cold or humid weather conditions. The patient complains of watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing and itchy throat.
Dr Vishal Verenkar, ‘Homeopathy offers a complete solution to allergic rhinitis patients. We rely on our proven allergy protocol when treating allergy patients. Usually, the patients recover in a couple of weeks after starting the treatment and living a better quality of life once they are cured. All this is possible without any side effects or drug dependencies.”
How homeopathy treats, heals, and cures people?
Homeopathic treatment is suggested, especially after reviewing the patient’s medical condition, genetic history, and family history in detail.
Homeopathy is based on the principle of ‘like cures like’. It is recognized for its safe and gentle ways of treatment. People worldwide prefer homeopathy, as it has no side-effects, and is non-toxic and non-addictive.
Staying safe during COVID-19 Pandemic
People with respiratory disorders are at a higher risk of falling sick from COVID 19. COVID-19 affects the respiratory system – lungs, throat, and nose, and can trigger already prevailing asthma or other respiratory disorders.
It is advisable to drink plenty of water and fluids, wear warm clothes, take steam inhalation, hot water gargles, and consume plenty of immunity-rich food to stay active and healthy. Additionally, they need to stay calm and peaceful as stress, anxiety, and tension can trigger respiratory ailments in no time.

Actor-director and producer Mahaveer Shringi believes in a brand of cinema that is high on content
Inspired by the likes of eminent actors such as Raj Kapoor, Raj Kumar and Dilip Kumar, filmmaker Mahaveer Shringi to create a cinematic brand synonymous with content-driven & entertaining projects; looks forward to his upcoming projects Koi Saath Hai releasing on January 26, 2021, & Queen of Sajjangarh on Valentine’s Day
Filmmaker Mahaveer Shringi is gearing up for Koi Saath Hai & Queen Of Sajjangarh release. Born and brought up in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar, Mahaveer Shringi has always been fascinated by the world of cinema. At the age of 16, he started his career as a journalist. His journey in the Hindi film industry began in the year 2005 and ever since there has been no looking back for him.
Actor-director and producer Mahaveer Shringi believes in a brand of cinema that is high on content. In an age where Bollywood has become synonymous with the star system, Shringi believes in a brand of cinema that has a powerful narrative and resonates with the audience. He looks forward to being associated with the kind of films that makes one think and entertains them, all at once.
While he is happy with the shift that cinema is going through in terms of the medium, Mahaveer Shringi believes that now is the time for filmmakers to up their game! “The audience is happy to be watching a 70mm film on their mobile screens. Even actors who looked at the Television as a step down from the movies are marking their foray into the digital world. Television has taken a step back now,” he says.
The filmmaker adds, “We have ample stars in our country but what we, as an industry, need to work on is the content. It is time we get good writers and directors on board because they form the head and the heart of a film. If we compromise on the content, films will soon become a dying art form in our country as is the case with several nations.
Currently, Mahaveer Shringi is working on two projects. His upcoming film titled Queen Of Sajjangarh is all set for a theatrical release on Valentine’s Day on February 14. The horror film, which is directed by him, also stars him in the lead. It also features Priya Mishra, Ajit Pandit, Rajesh Dubeay, Shivangi Sharma, Palak Singh, Alivira Rana, Vaibhav Chauhan, Abhijeet Ghadge and Sanket Ranadive in pivotal parts.

Leading the cast is the filmmaker along with actors Rajesh Dubeay, Neet Mahal, Priya Tiwari, Asma Sayad, Pratik Asnani and Yash Gaur who will be seen in important roles.
Mahaveer Shringi is associated with these projects as a producer as well. Queen Of Sajjangarh and Koi Saath Hai is produced by Thriller Wave Films which is headed by him and Sugandha Dixit.
The book ‘YOU: Beyond Isolation’, makes a masterly inquiry into moulding thought so we may purposefully unite. Some glimpses with the author
Each time you have a thought, it creates a new reality – feeling happy or, sad is a state of your own making. When I believe my life is abundant in some specific way, that is exactly what I will find in my life. In the book ‘YOU: Beyond Isolation’, Radhika writes “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. When a human mind perceives a movement externally, it responds both in its physicality internally and externally. The act of the response determines the ongoing movement of particles and influences the components of thought.” Over two decades of practicing therapy, she influenced many in discovering their power and in feeling responsible for creating their reality.
According to her “people will naturally choose to self-correct, once they realize how powerful they are. Every thought has a natural resonance–you experience what you think, and because how you think makes you emote, it also guides your behaviour. The subconscious mind accepts every kind of data, yet, it shifts your perception and opinion on anything in one of two ways. One, if the data is repetitive, and two if it spontaneously provokes an emotion. The associated feelings form memory and every next response is based on how much of the memory you extract and how ingenious you want to be.”
‘YOU’ is Mind Coach Radhika’s third book. She chose to write, to simplify the process of change, so people could help themselves heal effortlessly, she finds that “change happens once people choose to help themselves. People tend to undervalue themselves. They don’t feel good enough in a certain specific way and thus believe they do not deserve the good’. Almost always something tends to feel wrong and while life brings forth newer challenges, the sense of incompetency builds up.” The more you do something right or wrong-the more right or wrong it feels. As neurons fire together, they wire together.”
Radhika points out eight ways to enable productive thinking:-Related Articles
When you think incessantly about something, you deepen the impact on you, and by that means you permit it to act upon you, guiding it further into your experience.
What you do not perceive as healthy, must not be re-visited.
2. Interrogate the repetitive thought.
Recognize the content and the direction it is pointing you towards.
Accept what it is saying to you, letting it heighten your feeling space.
3. Analyzing your thought is inappropriate.
Examining your thinking will only reinforce the material to surface again.
Re-invent your thinking by borrowing from all possibilities.
4. Work on your projections.
Choose what you need for yourself and allow associated thoughts to surface from time to time.
The components of thought are quantum in nature, they will find resonant experiences.
5. Encourage all feelings to surface, even the not so nice ones –
All feelings are healthy, they allow a constant flow of energy.
Bringing yourself to recognize how you feel, reduces your chances of internalizing emotions irrationally.
6. Look for the nature of damage you feel within –
Examine the depth of the void that is caving in.
Resizing feelings includes the wisdom required to strengthen the journey back to finding fulfilment.
7. Remove judgment –
Drawing any kind of conclusion, makes you stop the flow of energy.
Reaffirm nothing – and ingenuity steps in to creatively craft a new way forward.
8. Shift your expectations –
As you become more flexible, your goals may redirect you to address the stuff you had left unquestioned.
When you forgive, you heal your past wounds because with forgiveness you finally give up hope that you could have changed your past. With forgiveness, while you alter your thoughts more holistically, you keep in mind that forgetting is not implicit, to forgiving. You do not disregard what happened to you, you fill your thoughts with uplifting energy.
It becomes evident from the direction Radhika leaves us with, that we receive our reality just in the manner in which we program it. Every thought, makes us believe stronger in something, reinforcing a feeling or an emotion. Through every next circumstance, we tend to create similar experiences all over again, so we may discover more evidence to match our original feeling state. Therefore, becoming mindful appears to be a wise way forward.
While education remains hugely affected due to the pandemic outbreak, tech-focussed IIT Chicago has gone overboard to provide quality education in these testing times.
The COVID-19 outbreak compelled the world to stand still and confine the horizon. Almost, every country in the world has seen the worst of pandemic crises. Given that the students comprise a major part of most countries in the world including India, the pandemic has enabled online education as a steady medium for seeking growth and opportunity in life.
IIT Chicago has transformed its degree programs to make them accessible online, keeping in view the Indian context where it takes a lot of push in executing the desired results.
There are several EdTech start-ups in India that have already floated the knowledge about e-courses, e-books, e-classes, etc but for serious learners who want to count on their degree for a lucrative job, the international degree programs from IIT Chicago are a boon.
While the COVID-19 situation has definitely provided an opportunity to online platforms to gain a bigger reach in a short period of time, in the long run, however, Illinois Institute of Technology undoubtedly emerges as the most credible alternative not only in terms of cost but also efficacy.
The university has been doing a great service to the student community of the country by providing a wide range of online degree programs at a cost, which is three times lower than the actual on-campus tuition fee.
Providing UG, Masters and even PhD programs, the tech-focus university is especially becoming a favourite among working professionals due to the versatility of the programs offered.
The best thing about its online degree programs is that real classroom video lectures (recorded classes) are provided to the students, who can watch them as per their convenience and even multiple times. However, they complete their degree at the same pace as the on-campus students.
“They get same project work, same assignments, appear in exams on the same date as do the on-campus students. Even they receive the exact same degree certificate but at just 33 per cent cost of the total tuition fee charged for the on-campus degree programs,” says Mr Sri Kumar Panyam, Director India Operations, Illinois Institute of Technology, adding, “The significant difference in fee is what makes the online degree program lucrative for Indian students, especially the working professionals.”
Given that fact that the university provides three modes of study (on campus, online in India and hybrid mode of study), working professionals are provided the option to switch from online mode to on-campus mode, in case they are transferred to the US.
Interestingly, the GRE and GMAT tests have been done away with, keeping the pandemic crisis in consideration. Also, the absence of TOEFL or IELTS tests has made the online degree programs of Illinois Tech more lucrative.
That’s not all. Those learners who complete their online degree programs from Illinois Tech are deemed as American graduates who become eligible for a H1B Visa under American Graduate Pool quota. Every year, the number of visa applicants under the American Graduate Pool quota are very less compared to the general quota.
Although the programs are quite attractive it is certainly not only about the costs. The phenomenal and strong alumni network of the university is something that makes it stand out.
Speaking about the same, Sri Kumar Panyam, who is also the chief mentor of Indian Students Association in Chicago, says, “We prepare students for professions that require technological sophistication, innovative mindset and entrepreneurial spirit. From magnetic tapes, cell phones, bar code technology to Pentium4 chip, Amazon Alexa and Bira91 Beer, the inventions and innovations of our alumni have changed the course of human history.”
Some of the famous names from India, who happened to study from Illinois Tech, are Rajeev Chandrasekhar (MP from Bangalore), Jamshyd Godrej (Managing Director of Godrej & Boyce), Sanjay Kirloskar (Chairman of Kirloskar Brothers Ltd), GV Prasad (Co-chairman and Managing Director of Dr Reddy’s) and N. Srinivasan (Managing Director of India Cements and owner of Chennai Super Kings).
The list is too long but to specify, almost 75,000 world renowned businessmen, industrialists and others have completed their education from the international university, which speaks about the quality of education on offer.
With two annual intakes, in January (Spring Intake) and August (Fall Intake), IIT Chicago, a world-class university has established three registered offices in India. Mr Sri Kumar Panyam, along with his team, provides free services including assistance right from the admission and throughout the program at these offices.
Associated with the university from the last six years, Mr Sri Kumar has been interacting with the parents as well as enrolled students. He has also managed to create a useful parent network successfully.
It is pertinent to mention that Illinois Institute of Technology, commonly known as Illinois Tech is a private, independent, not-for-profit university based in Chicago with programs in Engineering, Science, Architecture, Business, Law, Design, Human Sciences, and Applied Technology.
Created in 1890 by the merger of Armour Institute and Lewis Institute, Illinois Tech forayed into India in 1997 when it set up its wholly-owned subsidiary in India – Illinois Institute of Technology (India) Pvt Ltd (IIT IPL), to provide quality Masters and Certificate Education to thousands of working professionals at a subsidized cost. The aim was to provide quality education to people who cannot manage to undertake a fulltime programme in the US.
The quick turn-around from traditional to online sources in the education industry due to COVID-19 proves that we are ready to learn the unlearnt, and IIT Chicago has done a great service to streamline the process, the absence of which was holding us back. Students who want to switch to the reputed international university for their higher studies and working professionals who want to upgrade their skills while keeping their job intact can take advantage of this splendid opportunity by visiting their official website www.iitindia.iit.edu

Sachin Tendulkar said the DRS is very ‘confusing’ and ‘unfair’ to the bowlers as it favours batters
Little Master Sachin Tendulkar believes there is a need to change the regulations of the Decision Review System (DRS) and feels that an on-field umpire’s decision should not play any role if a decision has been reviewed by the team.
Tendulkar’s remark came after several ‘umpire’s call’ went in Australia’s favour on the third day of the Boxing Day Test between Australia and India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Monday. “I’m not convinced with DRS rule at all. Let’s understand one thing why players go to the third umpire because they are not happy with the on-field umpire’s decision. And it is as simple as that. Once you have gone upstairs to the third umpire then on-field umpire’s decision should not come in to picture at all,” Tendulkar shared his views on his official YouTube channel.
“It really does not matter whether the ball is hitting 10 per cent or 15 per cent or 70 per cent it should not matter. When you get bowled nobody talks about it. I understand the tracking system is not 100 per cent accurate but can you name me one umpire who has never done a mistake in his career. We all make mistakes but since we have decided to go ahead with technology let’s back it and over a period of time we will get closer to 100 per cent,” he added.
The legend further said the DRS is very ‘confusing’ and ‘unfair’ to the bowlers as it favours batters.
“But at least in everyone’s mind, we are clear that if the ball is hitting any part of the stump, Smith got out it literally kissed the bail. So, even if it is kissing the bail the umpire has given not out that decision should be overturned when they have referred to the third umpire, it is as simple as that. Either it is out or not out. It is so confusing and somewhere it is unfair to bowlers also it is what I personally feel,” he said.
After the Indian bowlers ran through the hosts’ top-order in their second essay, it was Cameron Green and Pat Cummins who played crucial knocks to help Australia stay afloat in the game.
At stumps, Australia’s score read 133/6 — lead by 2 runs with 4 wickets in the bag. Indian bowlers ran riot against the Australian batters as the hosts were reduced to 99/6 from 98/3 in a matter of few overs.

Former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Monday bagged the ICC Spirit of Cricket Award of the Decade for his gesture of calling back England batsman Ian Bell after a bizarre run out in the Nottingham Test in 2011.
During India’s tour of England in 2011, in the second Test, Bell was run out after scoring 137 runs as he had left the crease before the ball was dead at the cusp of tea. The then England skipper Andrew Strauss and coach Andy Flower enquired with Dhoni during the break if the run-out decision could be overturned and the visitors agreed to withdraw the appeal.
In the third session when Eoin Morgan and Bell walked out to bat the crowd which had earlier booed, appreciated the Indian camp’s gesture. Meanwhile, Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry has won the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Award for ICC Female Cricketer of the Decade. The Australian stalwart has also been adjudged as ICC Women’s ODI and T20I Cricketer of the Decade.
Perry was also part of the Australian team that won the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2013 and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2012, 2014, 2018, and 2020.
Dhoni on Sunday was named as the captain of ICC Men’s ODI and T20I Team of the Decade. He is among the most successful captains in world cricket. It was under his leadership that India lifted the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011 after having led India to triumph in the ICC World T20 in its maiden edition held in 2007 in South Africa.
With India winning the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 in England, Dhoni became the first and is still the only captain to date to have won all three ICC Trophies. Also, the winners of all the individual awards will receive a unique artwork created in a collaboration between the ICC, Mumbai-based studio Kulture Shop and Indian artist Pratap Chalke.
The Rachael Heyhoe-Flint and Sir Garfield Sobers winners get a spectacular hand-painted artwork bat, while the other individual award winners receive a limited-edition canvas painting that captures their unique passion and spirit.
