Hackers targeted Twitter employees through social engineering scheme

The hack, which lasted for hours, saw the accounts of prominent personalities including US presidential hopeful Joe Biden, Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Bill Gates

California [USA]: Following a massive cyber-attack during which 130 high-profile accounts were hacked, Twitter on Saturday responded to the crypto scam issue, saying, attackers targeted certain Twitter employees through a social engineering scheme and used their credentials to access their internal systems.

 “We believe attackers targeted certain Twitter employees through a social engineering scheme. They manipulated a small number of employees and used their credentials to access Twitter’s internal systems, including getting through our two-factor protections,” said Twitter on Bitcoin scam.

The hack, which lasted for hours, saw the accounts of prominent personalities including US presidential hopeful Joe Biden, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Microsoft Co-founder Bill Gates and of Apple getting simultaneously hacked on Wednesday.

 Twitter in a statement said that hackers accessed tools only available to our internal support teams to target 130 Twitter accounts. For 45 of those accounts, the attackers were able to initiate a password reset, login to the account, and send tweets, the social media giant added.

 “For up to eight of the Twitter accounts involved, the attackers took the additional step of downloading the account’s information through our “Your Twitter Data” tool. We are reaching out directly to any account owner where we know this to be true,” Twitter added.

 According to the WSJ report, while the social media giant hasn’t disclosed specifics about the hack, security experts believe the attack might have focused on the company’s internal account-reset systems, which are used to help users regain access to their accounts after losing their phones or forgetting their passwords.

Meanwhile, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has launched a probe into the widespread hack.

The FBI said on Thursday in announcing its probe that “at this time, the accounts appear to have been compromised in order to perpetuate cryptocurrency fraud.” Twitter is cooperating with the investigation, said the agency

Meet the Music Paramour, Cyrilia Lopez

Cyrilia Lopez’s first single was called, ‘Are you the one for me’ which is a mix of Soca and K-pop.

At times when the world seems to be on hold, we bring you another heartwarming tale of a person who broke out of her shackles and was brave enough to follow her dreams.

Cyrilia Lopez was born in January 1992, in the city of San Fernando, Trinidad, West Indies. Life wasn’t easy. From a very young age, Cyrilia had her own struggles. From growing up without a father to never having her own space. Never having a proper family had left a gaping hole in her heart. She has known so much sorrow. Abuse, poverty, the feeling of being unloved.

The only thing that seemed to console her during such hard times was music. Somewhere down the line, music became her home. Her talents got her accepted in a college in the United States but she couldn’t afford to study abroad as her family refused to help her out.

At a very tender age, Cyrilia had realized that she had to be independent and needed to support herself all on her own. After a lot of courage, trial and errors, and endless google searches, she finally got a job in an entertainment company that was hiring musicians across the globe.

Soon, Cyrilia began working in Bejing, China. She worked there for about 5 months before moving to South Korea with a seven-member South American band called, Lava Band. They played at the Hyatt Hotels for a year. After the one year contract with her band, She had decided that it was high time she started working on her solo career. She needed to do this for herself, she just had to, it was a compulsion.

After six months of being a solo artist, and working at the Novotel Ambassador Hotel in Busan, she realized that it was time for her to take bigger risks and follow her dream of creating her own music. Bigger things, ask for bigger risks. Tired of doing cover songs, Cyrilia decided that she wanted to make music for other victims who had or still are, suffering as she had. Soon, her first single was out, called, ‘Are you the one for me’, a mix of Soca and K-pop. This was followed by her first-ever EP, ‘This is me’ in July, 2019.

When asked about her genre of music Cyrilia Lopez says, “It is unclassified. I am a genre-fluid artist that creates music completely based on my emotions and current state of mind. I do not conform to trends. My music is intended to connect with the listener on an emotional level. I hope that with my songs, I can embrace the listener and let them know that even though there is poverty, and there is abuse, or you might be a victim of a horrendous crime, there is still hope! You can and you should, follow your dreams. It won’t be easy but it will be so worth it!”  

Cyrilia Lopez continues, “I hope that soon, I am financially independent enough to use my money to help children who are subjected to any form of abuse or human trafficking. The whole world is affected by COVID-19, so are the musicians. As soon as the borders are open for travel, I plan on having a series of charity concerts all over the world to help raise funds for foundations that help children improve their quality of lives.”

How an Indian small-town boy built a 15 Million $ EdTech Start-up

About the Man himself & his incredible journey

Subramanyam Reddy, affectionately known as Subbu, was born in 1983 in a small town called Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh. In 2007, he completed his MBA in HR & Marketing with the dream of becoming an entrepreneur.

He kick-started his career in marketing with a start-up in Bengaluru. In 2009 he joined a training firm in a marketing role. Within the first 6 months, he performed really well & grew the business eight times. In the next 4 years, the inspiring team at KH grew 10 times in revenue & expanded globally.

All was going well until 2015, the business suddenly went down and they had no money to pay salaries. Subbu took a personal loan to pay salaries and kept the company afloat. They analysed & quickly revamped their products/services to generate a revenue of 5.7 Million $ in 2016, 15 Million $ by 2018. They even got funded in the same year thanks to their phenomenal growth.

Subbu shares, “Countless struggles & numerous challenges made me more resilient and even more focused.”

SIBM Pune kickstarts the onboarding of MBA, MBA(I&E) and MBA(L&S) 2020-2022 Programmes

SIBM Pune organises virtual induction programme for its new batches.

Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune (SIBM Pune), kickstarted the virtual onboarding / Induction programme for the students joining MBA, MBA (Innovation and Entrepreneurship) and MBA (Leadership & Strategy) programmes. The formal induction was attended by all faculty members, staff and the incoming students of the batch 2020-2022. 16th July 2020 is the day of commencement of the induction programme and the programme would continue till 31st July 2020. The incoming batch of students had an opportunity to listen to stalwarts from the industry, on the day one of their two-year journeys.

Dr Raman is one of the best motivational speakers and his welcome address was electrifying and motivating to the students.  The keynote address was given by Mr Prakash Wakankar, CEO at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., which was followed by a Q&A session where students sought answers that inspired and motivated them. Late Ms Chitralekha Pati was an extremely bright alumnus of SIBM Pune, an outstanding HR professional, a trained classical vocal singer, a passionate and presentable anchor and a poetess. Late Ms Chitralekha Pati Gold Medal has been constituted by her husband Mr. Abhishek Bharati. This gold medal is given to the student who gets the highest CGPA in the MBA programme – HR specialization. This will be from the year 2019-2020 for the next 10 consecutive years for a tenure up to 2029. The best example are our nurses in India who work hard and are extremely critical to our healthcare system and are currently protecting us from COVID 19 in this hard time.  But their salary is very less compared to a software engineer, but you will rarely find nurses switching to a non-clinical role for salary.  Our directors Harish and Vishnu are great examples who left their well-paid jobs to realise their dream,” said Srikanth.
